Government employee to Amazon employee. Advice?
I have been a government employee for the last 10 years. I obviously enjoyed good job security and benefits but the pay wasn't as good. I may have the opportunity to take a job at Amazon with a decent pay raise. This would be a non tech Incident management role (probably L5). Is the culture at Amazon really as bad as people say it is? I don't mind working hard and doing some longer hours but I also don't want to leave the government only to be miserable, never see my family, and possibly get fired for no reason.
Did any of you face the same dilemma? How did it pan out for you? I'm assuming there are good teams as well. How do I know if my potential team is one of those? My potential team is full of former government folks. I'm hoping that would make a difference.
