I keep losing on house bids even when escalating the list price by 60-70k .. what the fuck is happening to the market here a 1600 sq feet town home in Bothell for over 800k .. are people going nuts. Lost a bid again for a house in lynnwood as I post this, seriously getting frustrated. TC: 250
On a plus note these posts are preventing me from getting serious about getting financing for a move to Bothell
I don’t know what your budget is but maybe Lake Stevens? It’s far as fuck but at least you don’t have to pay through your nose for an old or small SFH!
Why buy a house when you can rent, stack and the buy cash in a cheaper col city
I don't know man.. I find it very hard to make myself at home in a rental property. Just doesn't ever feel like HOME
Yeah. Lots of people feel like snowflake. Great for me! Rent controlled places for the last 2 years. Down payment moved to the market, which has gone gangbusters 🔥
You know what's worse, I think these crazy prices are here to stay. I don't think they are going to go down. The market might cool off a bit eventually but I don't think we're going to see any fall in property values.
Snowflake, you should be able to afford anywhere in the area after the IPO man
This. Is scary.
I think we are going to see a bumpy ride once rates go up. This bubble, and it is a bubble has been fueled by super cheap money...rates will go back up because inflation is just around the corner and they’ll have no choice but to raise rates. Once rates start going up the rise in asset values will fall, namely in stocks/equities and housing. I’m not saying it will be 2008, but if you look at the numbers of unemployed, and the pending foreclosures...it is awfully close to 2008 data.
Thank you
But if you look at unemployment numbers in tech hotspots like the bay, Seattle or Austin, it's not that high. Specifically, the folks that can actually afford the 1m average home in Seattle were not affected by covid. In fact their fortunes became bigger. So, yes, foreclosures will definitely come but I think their effect is not going to be universal.
Hah, I used to live in Bothell. Sold, took my money and moved to Texas. Housing is nuts over there... Bothell, Lynnwood, etc
Lucky you man.. wish I could move to Austin or Phoenix if only my Visa allowed. Seems like we’ll have to start searching for a job in Texas or Arizona soon.
This @microsoft is the best plan. If we learnt anything from Covid its people are productive even without coming to office. Lot of these tech giants will bolster investment in hub locations, its better to buy in medium col city.

Time to move to the Bay Area
Haha. The Bay Area does seem to have become the "sane" area now when it comes to real estate pricing
Bay Area you say? Check out this post! Insane 800k over asking in Cupertino (Housing) https://us.teamblind.com/s/bbyereTG
My friends got it before it started getting crazy high
you are competing in one of the hottest re markets in the US, after all.
