what are your views? do you think we get to hear good news anytime soon?
what backlog
What part of the process? I'm in the last phase (I-485) and things are surprisingly smooth. I should be with the SF processing center and somehow my application is in Sacramento where I need to be in a month for the in person interview.
Got mine very quickly on EB3
How long did it take for you? What was ur priority date?
It depends what’s your country of birth. If you are referring to S.386 or HR1044. Then, I think from that front you won’t hear good news this year. One of the White House staff mentioned that even with a senate approval, the president might refuse to sign it. (Basically vetoing it.) If you are talking about the visa retrogression from last summer. It’s finished. Priority date are current for most countries for employment based green cards and I-485 that are approved can get their green card issued.
😢
Thank you @sierra8
If you were born in India or China, I don't think a GC should be a goal for you if you're sticking to EB2 or EB3. Bill's for country caps have been introduced regularly since 2009 and nothing has come off it in the last 10 years so don't expect much to change under this administration
There are 2b+ people in India and China, there's no way we can open up the process, all we will be flooded
That's the most absurd arguement I've ever heard. The number of GCs and H-1Bs are ready capped so there is no question of people flooding in. Please understand the issue completely before commenting on it.
Hmm.... I wonder if you know what I am talking about.
The employment based GC was designed to specifically enforce limits to the number of people immigrating from any one country. To that end, it is working exactly as designed. It's very likely the people who wrote the law were aware that such limits would hurt those from highly populated countries and they were ok with it. Nothing's gonna happen. I'm in the same boat as well but once you make your peace with it, it doesn't matter anymore.
Get a Canadian PR or Australian PR and GTFO. You got enough experience and you can do well pretty much anywhere. That's what I be doing. I don't care about the GC process any more as I have an Australian PR and might just move internally with my current company.
No. Now go back to work.
