Hey all, I have received an offer from Groupon as an SDE II and was wondering how are the tech teams in the Seattle office? I've read some posts on blind about how Groupon isn't the best, however my first priority in my job search was moving to the Seattle area. Is it really that bad? I also have interviews for others in Seattle (non FAANG) in January but my Groupon decision cannot wait that long. Is it worth taking it to move to Seattle? Or risk reneg? Thanks YOE: 2 EDIT: TC: ~135K
How was the offer?
What’s the offer?
It’s not a bad choice. There are teams doing good work. But realize that the Seattle office isn’t growing and the stock is turbulent. If you are thinking of relocating, and spending 1-2 years, go for it.
Dude you'll bump into so many devs in Seattle from impressive companies, I went there for an interview for one night and met so many people from Amazon lol, I didn't connect with them, but I should have and if you're living there I think it'll be easier to find a referral
Take it, it is a good stepping stone in your career and the Seattle office is pretty awesome. Stock could be better though, but our engineering teams are pretty robust
"Stock could be better"?? I know it's painful to look, but stock is $2.20 today.
I have been there over a year and find the place toxic and unstable. Many managers leaving and shift in positions always.
Depends on the team. Which team is it for?
Hold out for company with more long term growth. Groupon is shrinking back into Chicago. If you join, expect lots of turbulence.
Thanks! I'm really set on moving and this offer gives me the opportunity, do you think it's risky to accept and continue interviewing?
