Most people here who LeetCode their faces off go for generalist roles at FAANG and the like.
I’m already working on autonomous driving software at Nvidia which is a specialized field. I am strong and confident in my domain knowledge but I suck hard at general LeetCoding and have a very busy life outside of work and can’t dedicate months of my life to improve at interviews right now.
Given that this is a niche expertise, would it be possible that there would be less ridiculous LeetCoding required to pass an interview at Waymo, Uber ATG, Cruise, etc and they would value domain knowledge more?
Or would it be just as much ridiculous arbitrary puzzles as any other job PLUS the need for domain knowledge? I’d be much happier to talk technical about perception, vision, etc. challenges than some generic dynamic programming problem.
