Guidewire vs Groupon
both offers are SDE II not major difference in TC. In terms of growth, reputation and culture. guidewire - 130 groupon - 138 #tech
Both are good. Reputation wise groupon is heard much more over the world. Even growth wise Guidewire shares dont seem to perform well but groupon also nothing stellar but at least its held on to its price. Groupon Q1 earnings call seems strong. Are both in same area?
yes, same area its just that I have heard not good things about groupon past which includes stock went to shit and last year announcement of heavy layoffs. but now some are saying its trying to change ... how true is that on the other hand guidewire seems stable but techs limitations are there like gosu inhouse programming lang.
Both are in that way offers with some tradeoffs. Guidewire also stock doesn’t seem to be doing great along with a brand not so known. I would say if you have time try to get something more well known. Otherwise just decide based on gut feeling of the teams you interacted with. Schedule a call with your hiring manager and discuss what are the team/companies future plans.
Guidewire tech stack is solid except one of the old groups. Check Blind threads about CDP, Microservices, Cloud platform groups especially the Data Platform group. Good job security, great engineering talent and no politics, TC is tier-2. May be on the higher-end depending on the org. Not a very well known brand in the tech circle. I was in the same boat as you. Had to decide between Guidewire, Salesforce and a series D startup. It was a tough call for me . My experience has been very positive with work, tech stack, team and do not have to deal with politics and back stabbings
Why not go Salesforce here unless tc was more at Guidewire.
TC was more but the main reasons were tech stack, impact and wanted to avoid politics. Had that enough. Interview experience was another deal breaker. SF hiring manager didn’t leave a good impression. Guidewire interviewers were really nice including the hiring manager. So far the decision has been proven to be a right one. Company is growing and looks promising
Tc or gtfo. Also include current tc and the two new tcs.
tc is irrelevant here both offered almost what I asked for, i am happy with both TC hence the dilemma 🤕
