I don’t work a full 8 hours on a work day, and I feel like I should either work harder at my job to work towards a raise/ promotion, or spend time on other meaningful things like reading, exercising, leaning new things, etc. this includes after normal working hours.

But instead of that, my downtime is simply doing nothing on Reddit /YouTube/ whatever time wasting activity. And I feel bad for being like this. Every now and then at night I am thinking “damn I accomplished nothing today. I suck”. Or on Sunday night “I wasted so much time this week.”

Do you guys ever feel this way? What do you do about it?

I feel this every couple of days. After a couple of days, I get frustrated/anger and that drives me to do some meaning full things(working out regularly, other hobbies etc) for a while, but then the motivation/drive fades away, and the cycle repeats 🤷‍♂️. I need a way to sustain the highs for longer time. 🙂

  • Google “Lyn Alden 12 tactics”. I have so much I could say on this topic, but I figure that article would be a good stepping stone for you.

OP you need to assign yourself side goals and find a way to keep you on track. You are using the time wasters activities as an escape. It’s ok to escape with balance and limits.

Go find social activities (as best you can in the pandemic, expect 2021 to slowly open up). Learn a skill/hobby: play an instrument, cooking, sport, language, etc
