I gave my notice at Tesla and they basically let me go that same day because I was moving to a competitor.
However, they convinced me that they were gonna just mark me as on “PTO” and pay me through the end of my notice period.
So I agreed, but today received an email from HR stating my exit date as the day I was let go.
Tesla owes me a severance right? Did they just spin the the PTO BS to avoid that cost to company?
I am so annoyed and not sure what to do.
Any advise?

Moral of the story leave when youre ready, stop this 2 week notice thing
I definitely only wanted to give them notice because I genuinely wanted to allow time to wrap some projects and help with transition but oh well
Act in whatever way builds the best long term relationships with the people you know.
Don't walk out the door giving your manager the finger and thinking you're hurting the company. You're only hurting that person, and you may one day by working with them again elsewhere.
