Hi, I have my H1-b extension visa approval papers with me. I need visa stamp on my passport. Considering to go to India or get it in Vancouver. I have heard recently in India people are getting RFEs and Administrative processing alot during H1-B stamp but not sure about H1-b extension. Is it easier to get the stamping done at Vancouver? I need to go out of the country in next 1 month and can't visit India right now. Has anybody heard any administrative processing or RFEs for H1-B extension recently?
It doesn’t matter if you go to india or anyplace else.. if they need some documents, they’ll give 221g... i think it all boils down to how strong is your case is and if you have all the required documents.. Good Luck!
221g is random Have some buffer time Hopefully you won’t need it Don’t try to bet on randomness
I had been to India recently for getting the stamp after my extension. I submitted my passport through dropbox process and after a week I got it back with 221g requesting me to appear for an interview at the consulate. I went next day and the interview went smoothly with no weird questions asked. After that I waited almost 2 weeks to get my passport back. Had to reschedule my return flight!. If you are lucky you might not get 221g but my advice would be to have this expectation while making your travel plans. Also keep in mind beeing holiday season there might be more delay in your processing.
When was this ? I need to go for H1B stamping for Microsoft ( Consular processing ) ... the Immi team filled in Vancouver as the consulate ( without even asking me ) and I’m wondering if it’s better to go back to India because of all these delays
I got stuck in Canada and they asked me to resubmit my passport after 3+ weeks. Now with holidays, it’s going to be a while before I get it back with visa stamp. Not everyone has to go through this experience but there’s always some risk involved.
You can get 221g for many reasons (google it). In short if your case demands more processing, location of the interview/processing isn’t going to change that.
I got a 221g for extension as well. I am of the opinion that almost everyone will get a 221g, and get eventually approved after 2 weeks. Please book your return tickets accordingly.
221g is very common now, and most cases it resolves itself and you get passport with stamp back in 2 weeks. I would recommend going to india for stamping, while waiting for passport, hangout with family, eat delicious food and relax.
Just finished the process last week. Had to go for visa interview for new stamping as the prev one was expired. Everything went smoothly. Got the stamped passport from my home city in 4 days.
Isn't extension through drop box? Not sure at what point you would be evaluated for rejection or RFE
I am not sure hence asking. Is there any point where it will be evaluated?
