H1B coe from Microsoft to Apple

Have a bachelor's and master's degree in CS. Have been at Microsoft for a around 2.5 years and on H1B since October 1st. current TC : 195k new TC : 285k I don't see an obvious reason for my petition to get denied. However there is always a rare possibility of issues (immigration attorneys screw up by failing to attach some documents). Attorneys are in the process of filing my coe petition. Can I take the leap of faith and join Apple in case I get an RFE instead of approval?

Don't take risk with current immigration

I had the same problem from amazon to google months ago. COE is common nowadays. I think even if it fails, plain infinite retry is doable.

What do you mean by infinite retry and what was the reason for your rfe?

I have CS degree(bachelor, master). The reason is”SO”. I heard from attorney if the h1b transfer got denied, they can start an independent case for h1b transfer immediately.

Don’t. Wait it out. I personally know a lot of people(including me) getting RFEs while filing for an extension. So, COE have a higher chance

Did you eventually get it approved though?

Yup, I Did. Took about 4.5 months.

Congrats on the offer! How was your interview at Apple? And, what domain?

Microsoft yghnb OP Oct 22, 2019

Thanks for the info! No design? Generalist SWE, Distributed Systems or AI/ML? Did you do a lot of LC hards during prep?

What is COE? Does it mean h1b transfer?

Microsoft yghnb OP Oct 22, 2019

Yes same as transfer. Coe means change of employer.
