Another company has filed for my H1B transfer through premium processing a couple of days ago. Curious about the recommended timelines for the time it would take for the approval to come through. Also wondering about the appropriate time for resignation as it might be possible that the company asks me to leave immediately or before the 2 weeks that I had planned. In such a scenario, would it be alright to be unemployed on the H1B visa for a maximum of 2 weeks? Any other suggestions?
Nooglerish summed it great. I am myself in the middle of a change. Please update when you receive an update here. Thanks
Put in your notice once you get the approval. I hear people hearing back in a week after filing h1 transfer with premium processing. I am about to start with h1 transfer transfer as well. Please post your updates here.
Yes I will post updates here, what are the dates that your transfers were filed?
Mine hasn't been filed yet, expecting it to be filed either before Christmas or after the holidays.
The transfer has been approved.
Did it get approved during the weekend?
Yes
Thanks a lot OP. Which center ? What dates exactly ? Mine to be filed tomorrow
Actually I don’t have that information
On related note / can you leave to visit home country after you get H1 transfer approval? (Between resignation and new company start date)

Why do you want to resign right now? Do that after approval. Also.. why would you be unemployed? You can join the new company on recipt (not recommended)
Yes, I will resign after approval but is there a recommendation on waiting for the hard copy of the approval or something? I will be relocating to another city with my family so will need to plan accordingly. If I plan for a 2 week notice for the moving and the flight tickets and am forced to stop working before that, I would effectively be unemployed.
Waiting for hard copy is not necessary. Online approval is good enough. 2 weeks between jobs is not a problem
