I understand wanting to crackdown the h1b abusers. But why even h1b transfers and graduates h1b. Its really hard to obtain an offer with FAANG, of course this takes hardwork and talent, which is reasonable. But after arduous work, waiting for luck factor on h1b transfer seems so unreasonable. Do we really need to work here that bad ? Note: got offer at Apple and h1b coe is in progress

Even people who could clear FAANG interviews must be given some consideration, given how hard it is to clear those. I hope reverse brain drain is good for India.

Reverse brain drain is only an abstract imagination. Indians won’t leave the worst version of America for the best version of India.

Even if Trump comes out and calls all Indians idiots and makes the immigration process even more painful, Indians will still choose to stay back in America. There’s no dignity left.

That’s not true. I know a couple of folks who went back and got jobs Ates Flipkart, Saavn. Also know a couple of folks who went back and started their own businesses and are more successful than I am. Not to mention folks who are not going to Canada. I am myself considering moving to Canada and this will likely be my last few months here. I don’t want to go, but fuck this.

Not everyone who joins FANG is brilliant. Only 20% of high performers write code that brings in 80% revenue. Others are there to keep the machine running.

All companies have thousands of engineers working on mundane tasks such as oracle, financial apps, operations, support, and maintainance that doesn't require any special talent. 50% or more engineering population can't solve leetcode medium once they get in.
Nepotism runs high among all types and it's everywhere.

That's true sometimes chance plays a factor in those interviews too. Pareto principle everywhere. But smart maintenance is important too.

It is a choice you have made to stay in this country despite immigration challenges. Now, stand by your decision or change your choice

Before the crack down, it's simply hard to get into the lottery for honest competent people because they cheat by filing multiple petitions. Now they screwed up h1b for everyone even those who tried to transfer got fucking rfes and denials. Fuck them.
