Hello Blind! My H1b is up for renewal in August. I want to get my stamping done in UK. I hold an Indian passport and I dont have a UK visa. 1. Will I have trouble getting a UK visa around the time my US work visa is expiring (just the stamp, not the actual H1b) 2. Is it possible to get stamping done in the UK? I know I should talk to my lawyers about this, and I will. I want to see if anyone has ever done something like this before and can speak from their personal experience. Cheers.
UK won't give you a visa if your USA visa has less than 3 months on it
If you had a UK Visa already, then you could do this. But if you get admin processing or some shit like that, it will be a pita. So, weigh your risk tolerance. I was stuck in Sweden for 3 weeks due to admin processing. It was fun but mostly because my company took responsibility.
I was able to get a UK Visa and stamping for US Visa this past summer. I applied for the UK Visa with about a year to go before expiration. The process was fairly smooth for me. My lawyers did warn me that there is some risk built into this, so be prepared to have to travel to India if anything gets rejected etc. But to answer your question, 1- I think yes as long as there's sufficient time left before expiration, and 2- yes.
I have gone to Uk in 2016 for official work and got my h1b visa stamped. I didn’t have any issues in getting my work visa for UK (equivalent to b1 visa here) and the it was also pretty easy to get my h1b stamped in UK.
