H1b visa transfer dilemma

Currently at MSFT on H1B. Have received offers from couple of companies: OCI and Amazon. Started the interview procedure before premium processing was stopped. -Wondering should I commit with visa transfer gamble and join other company as soon as I get receipt? - Inform the other company and start the visa transfer procedure. But join in after the transfer is fully done. Could take multiple months. - Or just wait it out till Feb and try luck again? - What has been the visa transfer experience like for folks on blind in last few weeks or earlier when the premium processing was stopped. Just in case folks are wondering: Easy going job in MSFT, very good WLB, and TC 320, YOE :12, L65 @ Redmond,WA

Option 2. Don't screw around transferring without full confirmation. U are dealing with a immigration enforcement regime.

EMC WeAreVenom Sep 25, 2018

Don't join on receipt. too many RFEs and denials.

I strongly believe that if you really like the new role, you should take it after you get transfer receipt. Yes, there's a risk but the life is full of risks. H1b folks are already surrounded with several restrictions so don't let this to be an added restriction. If you feel strongly about joining other company, just join.

Grade A dumb advice. He joins on receipt and h1 gets rejected, he is out of status and has to leave the country immediately. Especially risky now that RFEs have also stopped.

PPCmktng - I don't want to say something nasty to you. But please stop giving moronic advice that could destroy someone life. We need fewer people like you frankly who don't understand the consequences of the shit you spew on an anonymous forum that could potentially mislead someone in a bad way.

Yahoo yea..who? Sep 25, 2018

Start transfer but wait for the approval. Chances of getting random rfe is high. Don’t take the risk of joining on receipt.

Amazon togiwiw Sep 25, 2018

No RFEs since 9/11.

Qualcomm Receipt Sep 25, 2018

There are RFEs, but just that they can deny without RFEs.

Google Billets Sep 25, 2018

Don't even think about joining on receipt. Wait till the transfer is complete. Personally if I were you, I would stick with MSFT with that TC and WLB especially if they have already filed your green card and you have an approved I-140.

Don’t join on receipt. With direct deportation upon H1b reject, that could be the worst case if you join on receipt What your level at Microsoft? And what location ?

It depends on the I94 expiration date. If you get denied, but still within the I94 expiration date, you will have the grace period. Talk to your lawyer

Amazon Gjdyveycc4 Sep 25, 2018

Nobody will wait for ur h1 to be approved. Microsoft is a good company too, just jump the ship after Feb

Amazon ऐमज़ॉन Sep 25, 2018

Amazon will wait! Its not gonna die without you.

LinkedIn Polar! Sep 25, 2018

Make companies wait. Let the business get the pinch of stupid immigration policies

EMC WeAreVenom Sep 25, 2018

If you join on receipt and the RFE is denied, you have to leave the country immediately. there is NO GRACE period.

Microsoft mamu420 Sep 25, 2018

QQ: what if previous company's I-94 is till valid( 2020)? Still he has to leave the country?

Amazon gdSe61 Sep 25, 2018

I am in the same boat as well, but decided to just wait it out and start looking again from Feb.
