I work for a small startup and I just started the green card process with them (ROW).
However they seem unfamiliar with the process and the steps are taking way longer than they should be (+1 month to get a job description, other delays)
Should i stay with them? Or switch to a bigger company with an established process? Also if i switch would it take the same amount at time at say google? Do they start it right after joining? My lawyers estimate is 18months
I just started my STEM OPT, dont want to risk getting deported

It took 6 months just to file the initial PWD. Another two months to file the job posting. And they didn’t even file the PERM properly - lawyer said it was a tech issue, company never followed up.
So after a year since applying for the first PWD, I’m back where I started with only a year left on STEM OPT. I could be waiting for my PERM to be approved but instead I’m still waiting for the same step.
I’d recommend leaving. Don’t fall into the same trap as me. You still have time to switch.
The other option if you really want to stay is to bug them every day about it. Set up weekly calls with whoever is charge. It’s not going to get done otherwise.
If your startup is small enough and you play a crucial role, use that to force their hand.
Please, let my experience serve as a cautionary tale.
I guess some companies just dont care unfortunately.
I’ve been bugging them alot haha, but still it feels like a crapshoot. Im disappointed to say the least but I started preparing for interviews
Anyways, good luck!

You can pay attorney fees but cannot pay any fees that goes to the government like PERM fee or I-140 filing fee if I recall correctly. 10K is more than enough for single end to end GC process at any reasonable attorney.
Time to leetcode ig
And I think only MSFT, GOOGL, Citrix does PERM on OPT. Maybe Credit Karma. Are you aware of any?
