Anyone know what the internal culture at HCL America is like?
It's the worst culture one could imagine. No value for people, no respect for personal time and absolutely no career growth
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Unless you like micromanagement, lots of reward events (they love to recognize each other), horrible benefits, zero career advancement, discrimination, awful tools/apps and having the life squeezed from you - sign up now! Learned that funds were being pulled from my paycheck and placed in an HSA account I did not sign up for. I wasn't even sent the HCA credit card until 6 mo after I left the business! I didn't even know they had done this until the tax form arrived! $400 of my money is tied up in this HSA credit card without telling me and many others! many folks inquired after tax forms started coming out! Oh! Had many peers who had chronic issues with their medical benefits. One even had his credit impacted because they didn't cover their medical bills they were insured for until 6 mo afterwards, all because HR couldn't figure out his SS# and spell the employee's name right (this was one of my DR's I was trying help). Forget trying to get anything handled if you have any medical issues! Kindly do the needful is written on all your emails for action items! But when you ask them to kindly do the needful in return, they lose your email unless you escalate it to the next higher manager. You must be Indian and a male for career advancement. Lots of liabilities and EEOC violations during one of the mergers. they know little about doing business in the US. They asked for blood type, weight, marital status, do you smoke, etc! Forget using their internal systems - TARMAC is the worse! Changing your password is like pulling teeth. They have ads all over their internal site! Why?!? Never seen that E V E R. They also made it mandatory for contractors to provide one way HCL could enhance and improve / grow their business with the companies we contracted with. Basically wanted us to give intellectual collateral ideas they could reap the rewards and make more money for themselves ... while we got some $100 monitory reward. That's when I realized it was time to go. Great learning experience, never want to work with HCL again.
Avoid if you can. They have no respect for employees. Also face to face meetings usually ends up in rude statements and Hindi verbal battles.
Stay away!
Agreed with all of the above. Hcl is the worst when it comes to talking about salary, they under cut you under market value and expect you to work to the bone and take on multiples roles that is not in your job description and scope. A lot of people have jumped ship as there is no career growth with this vendor! They cheap out every project and don't want to spend a cent when adding additional resources or tools to make your job better. Their internal site is terrible! all support is in India. They always give false promises and never stick to their word, so if they do give you promises make sure you have it documented.
If you have other options, I recommend go to a product company. Since HCL picks project on really low margins (it's primarily a sales org) there is no roam for giving decent salaries. So what you negotiate at the time of joining, wont change much over the years. There are few who do really well, but you need to be exceptional and part of few core teams which are closer to costs.
Absolute worst company to work for, next worse is DXC.
It is like shitty culture
Can you elaborate?
