Also, there are specific LC questions that get asked a lot at trading firms. Eg: implement an in-memory order book. Focus on these.
Also, depending on the type of SWE role, learning about the following will also be helpful:
Research SWE: market micro-structure, linear regression, basic probability, etc
Low-level SWE: C++ optimization, networking, operating systems, etc
I would ask your recruiter for specifics since the system design interview will vary a lot between trading firms.
For inexperienced candidates some firms may not have a system design interview.
Others will not ask traditional system design questions like "Design Facebook" or "Design Instagram". Instead they will count on you to make good design choices during your coding rounds and count that as system design.
For experienced candidates, you might get asked "Design an exchange", "Design an order routing system", "Design a highly-distributed backtesting / simulation infrastructure".
Please ask your recruiter for details, the trading industry hasn't settled on a good format for system design interviews so it varies a lot between firms.
Get a PhD from a top 10 school
