I joined FB from HFT and although my wlb has gotten much better at FB but my stress level is through the roof. I find FB a lot more stressful than any other companies I have worked. Are other FANG so much stressful? $500k TC.. 10 YOE, E5. I am in NYC

Hours != stress.... imagine someone runs a marathon for 1hr at speed x and other person does in 0.5hr at 2x speed. You are gonna feel more tired with 2x speed but you ran less amount of time.... stress is due to high expectations, PSC pressure
Stress is a mental state. More hours cause more stress, but it's not the only factor.
Wow 500k TC obviously you will be stressed - I am stressed too because of my low TC

I was interviewed for e6 loop but got downleveled hence I think my offer is out of band.
TBH. This is not out of band, stock appreciation helped but I have seen numbers you mentioned above. Obviously not for everyone but for high L5.
Go to Google. You will find wlb much better. Im just submitted my notice at Facebook and will leave for Google

For 500k TC you should be working your ass off
Google is super low stress for most people. All the stress comes from trying to get promoted but it's really not too bad. Was your TC higher in HFT?
Nice to know. I have been here just over a year and thinking of a move this year. FB stress is not sustainable for me.. My TC was $350K-$430K at HFT - it's very perf. driven. Most years I pulled $400k.
What HFT firm did you work for ? Some Hft firms are known for decent wlb

Google doing more layoffs, restructuring including country moves
$500k TC at E5 is really impressive. Congrats! FB and Netflix are notoriously stressful. But it all depends on the team. Google is less stressful with great wlb.
Just want to add the obvious note that this heavily depends on the team. There are teams with terrible WLB of course. Also, it goes both ways - totally chill teams provide no career growth
I was interviewed for E6 but got downleveled to E5.. I think that's why my offer is strong.
