Do HFTs like Citadel, Jump Trading, Jane Street, HRT etc ask typical system design questions like other FAANGMULAs? Thinking of trying my hand but not sure what to expect. Have heard it's operating systems, c++ etc? Can someone shed some light on what kinds of questions to expect for an 8 yoe FAANG IC tc - 400 #engineering #software #swe #tech #faang #citadel #jumptrading #hrt #janestreet
Citadel and Two Sigma both dig super deep into the OS from my experience. Like deep deep. Like shit that has been abstracted away for 20 years deep.
silberschatz dinosaur book deep?
How do you even study that stuff and from where ?
Is Jane Street really HFT?
No. They are prop trading but not HFT since they do not mainly rely on low latency strategies.
Hey Chicago Trading, can you share insights on typical interview process for prop trading and HFT firms? Typical FAANG type system design questions? OS questions? C++ questions?
Lots of variance, but it’s certainly reasonable to expect something sys design related at some point in the process. I was asked one during my interview process with Jump.
Mind if I DM you?
Go for it :)
Cit/CitSec interviews vary. Basically up to your interviewer, but like others have mentioned, you should prepare for a mix of algos/sys design/os level questions + anything you claim on your resume
How did you prepare OS and C++ is there any best book or lecture series to follow ?
