I am about to move companies to what seems like a dream job on paper.
However I am bit concerned moving from Sr Engineer rank to Sr Staff rank.
How can I know if I will be successful at new rank?
What should I do differently at more senior role?
I always work hard, but what else I can do to be successful at my new role?
Context:
Currently a Senior Engineer at QCOM, performance rating: consistently exceed expectations.
Will be joining as Sr Staff Engineer at Marvell.
Taxes:
Old TC: 175K USD
New TC: 208K USD
YOE: 5.5~
Location: Israel

3 bedroom apartment in TLV in ok area costs around 1.3 m USD
If you prepared to live in Haifa [big city in northern israel, 2 hours in traffic to TLV] you can expect to pay around 0.7 m USD for same thing.
Mazda 3 2021 costs here 47K USD.
I spend around 500 USD per month on food. [food for 2 persons]
What is nice in israel is that in addition to the TC, employer pays around 12% of your base pay to your pension fund. [I guess this is somewhat similar to 401K in USA]
Can you share same data points for Bay area?
A 3 bed house in a good area would be about 1.5MM
If you’re ok with areas gentrifying, you can get away around 1MM, depending on the type and age of house.
For me alone, a grocery store visit is about 150 bucks every 2 weeks, I shop at a reasonably priced store - Trader Joe’s. Would be slightly more around 200, at an expensive store,
Funny about the Mazda, I drive that car. I bought it 4 months ago, full spec’d out for about 34k with taxes.
Amazon does match your 401k contribution, but only 2% up to a certain limit, other employers match a larger %
