Wanna be a DS algorithm teacher, is Amazon a credible enough name on your resume to get some students?

SDE 2 at Amazon, YOE 9. I am confused if I should pursue a job at Google to build some more credibility or I am good with Amazon's name? I have got good reviews from my students while delivering corporate training as well as being a professor in an engineering college previously. I really don't want to prepare and work for Google, if that doesn't make much difference. Below is my purpose and background: I want to start a business where I will be providing technical training, both online and classroom. I will be teaching computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms, programming languages etc. I have masters in computer science and engineering, I have some International work experience as well as experience designing systems from scratch and scaling to millions of users. I switched from startup to Amazon, because I wanted a big name on my resume so that I can build some credibility among the potential students and investors. #google #uber #amazon

You can work at google or amazon and still be a shitty teacher and get crappy reviews. Just focus on teaching well, not your reputation and your flex.

SDE at Amazon will get you interviews pretty much everywhere, which is all a name is good for.

People are realizing there's more money in helping people get into FAANG, than in getting in themselves. Just like IITs and IIT coaching back in India. This is what is wrong about the Leetcode model.

I think you’d be better off with an additional upper end company on your resume. If you start this business around technical training, you’ll be one (number) of former Amazon engineers. If you worked at a second, strong, company where it’s obvious you’d be learning and growing, I think your value add would be much stronger than just at Amazon alone

just do a good job, not sure about others but I barely read your resume when interviewing

go to google if you want to have credibility in search. else your reputation will be basically killedbygoogle.com

Amazon DSAlgoAmzn OP Mar 5, 2020

I don't get it, do you mean that Google can be harmful for my career

Amazon covidicus Mar 5, 2020

not if you want to be a search guru
