Create a fake LinkedIn profile. Make that fake profile the ideal SWE, or whatever you want, candidate... Stanford, MIT... worked at FAANG with increasing responsibility, etc. Have recruiters come after you like mad. Take their call and say you are not really interested in leaving your L86 position at impressive company right now, but you would recommend (insert your real name) for the role. Boom.

i'm MIT grad
You won't get a ton of legit recruiters call, but
- MBA signup ads
- tons of non-related icc ads that flooding your inbox (and amzn's)
- invitations to do nft/blockchain startup x100
r u serious lol
Within 2 weeks of being open to work, I got inbound from Palantir, Facebook, Amazon, and dozens of other VC funded spots.
It works if the bar is low for that position, however, it wonβt work if recruiters have a target company list or ideal candidate persona.
Again, Iβll reiterate that this was a non-tech role that is in high demand and requires no skills. Think along the lines of customer success or sales.
I donβt see why anyone would need to do this for software engineering. The demand is so high and recruiters are basically willing to talk to anyone with a pulse.
Referrals and doing your own outbound is key!
