Hi all. I’m in a tough situation at VMware where customers don’t seem to be catching on our solutions even after executive presentations & tech val. I know this may not be representative of most VMware customers.

My original plan was to grind it out until the right startup opportunity comes along, but an old manager who joined the PAN Prisma Cloud unexpectedly reached out about a position on his team.

As for the offer, the OTE is barely a bump but i get $100k of RSUs over 4 years that I don’t have here but that’s not very competitive in the grand scheme of things. Only $1k 401k match

The role is good - highest growth sector in #1 cyber security company, but my doubt is that 1. I’m not very interested in security (can change) and 2. It’s not a pre-ipo boomer like i wanted. Doesn’t excite me much

Should I stay at VMW, or take the PAN job knowing it may be a short-term gig if I don’t like it?

You're effectively losing up to $8k/year in 401k match, so this a OTE decrease if we remove the RSUs.

How bad does PAN want you? I'd try to negotiate beyond this and ensure you have a healthy bump. From your post, it seems your hesitant, which I could understand.

Over-attaining my OTE is more likely at PAN and I cover larger accounts + specialize in cloud. I’m also not interested in security but that can change
