I interviewed last year at Hudson River Trading (HRT). I think I was rejected because of the culture fit interview. (I have aced all the technical interviews). They did not give me feedback on why they rejected me. I interviewed again this year. All the technical interviews went great. I can see that they put a lot of emphasis on culture fit. So, I feel like this would be a similar outcome. I’m a normal guy. I wouldn’t say I have unique personality traits that may seem as a risk to the company. I’m pretty social and friendly. Can anyone tell how important is culture fit/personality in the hiring process? And if anyone experienced the same? Also, referrals to Jane Street are appreciated :)
They also might be fishing for rockstars and 🦄. Is it the same position as last year?
How are interviews compared to G
Much much harder. The average G engineer wouldn't stand a chance
Have you interviewed there or are you talking out your ass?
I interviewed here once and they didn’t even reply to say I didn’t make it...even after following up with the recruiter. Like WTF?!...And the interviewer said I did really well. Had two phone interviews and no onsite lol seems like a good shop tho from outside.
Alas, two phone interviews means the first one went kind of poorly but the first guy was like “eh, I don’t know, let’s give them another chance,” and so somebody else got the unenviable task of doing the second phone screen. The second screener is almost invariably annoyed about having to do it and is thinking that the first guy should have just had the conviction of saying no and not waste anybody else’s time.
FWIW the recruiter told me there will be two phone interviews before I even had my first interview. Stop making random assumptions lol Regardless, my point is about leaving the candidate in the dark regardless of the final outcome!
Recently interviewed as well. Yes they did put a lot of time getting to know me personally which I guess is finding out if I am a cultural fit. It worked in my favor though. Dont know/can’t share how they evaluate but I am a normal guy, less than avg social skills
Thank you. I will DM you.
are you a software engineer or data scientist at roku? I have never done anything quant before but I got the interview invitation to do an algo internship interview. I saw that you mentioned brushing up on a practical guide to quant finance. Other than that, did you do anything else to prep? Thanks!
Mind sharing your experience and the interview process? How to prepare for interviews?
What's the leetcode equivalent for quant interviews

Did you not ware the midtown uniform? Trade in vest, trade with the best! Jokes aside, you interviewed prior. Try remember what they asked you and corelate that with what's expected from you for that role and target responses. Tell them what they would like to hear. Also 1 year is a long time. They probably don't remember you. Don't bring it up. And the person or team that interviewed you might not even be there anymore.
I already had the interview this year too. They didn’t even remember I came there last year. They are so used to hiring undergrads out of college, that someone like me coming from tech, they are putting extra scrutiny on why I want to make the switch. I think I’ve answered honestly and reasonably well. But I didn’t get a good feeling that the interview went well.
