Tesla Model S 2016 or New Tesla Model 3

As title says, is Tesla Model S 2016 a good value for money or new Model 3.
What are difference?
Pros for Model S 2016 - free supercharging.
Cons - no full Self-driving.
Can it do lane changes and other stuff? I need that the most, I don't care about FSD as it's still distant promise.

Model 3 pros - new tech, new battery, full self-driving hardware
Cons - buying entry level model doesn't even have premium interior, long range model + Self-driving is too expensive.

Get the model 3. If you plan of driving to Tahoe, get the dual motor extended range. It’s worth the extra money for the handling. It’s the ultimate snow car.

  • Model S owners are just funding Model 3 anyway. Harder depreciation, and I couldn’t see any major differences. If you need room just get X.

Model 3 is also much more efficient, smaller battery means fast charging.

    • Even my commute isn't that long. I am fine with SR really, range is no issue for me.
I was looking at FSD because of lane change and they are launching traffic lights and self-driving in city by year end isn't it?

    • Yeah Elon said city and red light detection by EOY. You still have to confirm the lane change, it’s not fully automatic and can be finicky in heavy/complex traffic. v10 really improved it though. I think they are about 2 years away from something polished.

Tesla has also been known to do random flash sales.. so at the end of a financial quarter they might randomly do a 3k discount again

The car is poorly built. The interior is shitty and makes weird noises (a car that costs upward if $60k feels like $20k Honda). The software is buggy and not being able to open the door or the trunk from the first try is normal. The repairs are extremely expensive. Get a C class, BMW 3 series, Lexus or Audi

Expensive repairs? Oh man...wait until you pay for service and repairs on those luxury European cars. If you don’t get a Tesla at least have the common sense to get the Japanese made Lexus. You’re going to struggle to love your German luxury car after the service bills roll in.

Only thing you gotta replace on the Tesla is washer fluid, air filters, and brakes. And with regenerative braking being so efficient, you probably won’t change the brakes for 100k miles.
