90k bonus? It's that annual?
Joining bonus
90k up front?
Holy crap Intel pays pretty damn well now lol
They are not matching my unvested RSU
You told them your unvested rsu? Did they ask for proof of amount? When did you bring up the unvested rsu amount in the negotiations?
That 90K is just one-time signing bonus or expected annual bonus going forward? What makes you think you will have more visibility at intel?
I expect that it is the signing bonus. I believe annual bonus would be around half that.
It is one time joining bonus
I was at intel 10 years, what a complete rotting and sinking ship! Intel is notorious for no reason layoff. Have you tried Nvidia? Facebook? Leadership is complete garbage and often kill good products for stupid business reasons.
You are generalizing. There are good teams and bad teams in a company. Just because you had bad experience doesn’t mean everyone else feels the same.
No. I was at Intel also. It's a sunken ship at this point. They massively underpaid me to boot.
I agree with covidtan. If you feel that u can grow, then why not. Culture is much open. There has been attrition off late. So if you land in the right team u can grow quickly. And ask for more. U should completely vest ur unmatched plus equal the stocks with apple for the next 4 years.
How are yearly stock refreshers?
From qazwas who provided the numbers few years ago. Should be in the ballpark range. Base pay: 5: $67.6k to $101.2k 6: $76.1k to $121.5k 7: $87.1k to $144.1k 8: $100.5k to $166.3k 9: $117.7k to $200.3k 10: $135k to $236.4k 11: $164.6k to $288k Stocks For grades 3-6, there is only 1 stock award. For 7+, I'll list level 3, 2, 1 - generally level 4 is 1/4 of level 3 and level 5 is always 0. 3: $3080 5: $4750 6: $7550 7: $8500, $13500, $23400 8: $13500, $20000, $37000 9: $20000, $30200, $54000 10: $30200, $50000, $95000 11: $50000, $95000, $175000 APB range: 5: 1% 6: 1% 7: 2% to 4.5% 8: 3% to 6.5% 9: 4% to 10% 10: 7% to 15% 11: 11% to 19%
Negotiate for folsom or Oregon with intel. You are gonna have the best of all the worlds!
Don’t want to relocate
Makes sense. Just try to get RSUs close to 500k (just for your own satisfaction that you minimized the unvested RSU loss) Also, get more info on yearly refreshers (for your own info. So that you know if you wanna stay for longer than 4yrs)
Intel bonus doesn't seem right. 90k is too much for annual unless it is a one time sign on
G9 bonus should be decent but I agree 90k sounds more like sign-on
It is one time sign on Updated
If you find the role interesting, I think it could be a worthwhile move. My understanding is that Apple is fairly silo-ed, but Intel generally has more flexibility and more opportunity to take on broader scope. Just be aware, that TC after the initial grant probably falls off sharply and may end up below Apple so you will have to decide how that balances out.
Do you mean to say yearly hike and refreshers are not competitive at Intel?
Yes. That’s what he meant. But again, given the way Pat is working on fixing the compensation, maybe this will not be an issues in 3-4 yrs. So, if you see a cliff coming, then move. Else, stay. Simple!
What part of HW are you in?
CPU design
Is this RTL design or Physical Design?
If this involves Bay Area to Oregon / Folsom shift then maybe. Ask for more since your refreshers will be peanuts there
No relocation Both in Bay Area
