    • I am not an SRE. But I interact with a lot of SRE in the data infra org. And I can tell you for sure that they have good work like balance. They do some software engineering even if they are SRE. And they arenโ€™t always fighting fires (mostly they are not fighting fire)

Apple SRE: (mostly) good talent, shit tech stack
    LinkedIn: vice versa.
You can choose to make a dent at LinkedIn, but heard the politics are awful there in most orgs.

    • I donโ€™t know where did you hear about politics at LinkedIn. I have worked at 4 companies so far (start and big names included), and LinkedIn is the least political place by all measures.

I know two smart and good people that told me, one left for FB, and when I interviewed onsite I did not get good vibes from the host manager. But that said, I donโ€™t want my comments to be misleading, if what youโ€™re saying is true then good for you.

You will be fascinated about LinkedInโ€™s culture and WLB. Donโ€™t go to Apple. Itโ€™s worst decision Iโ€™ve ever made.

How much coding experience do you have? Google is definitely still hiring SREs, but the target candidate might be slightly different from SRE at other companies.

I have pretty good experience at coding, I spent almost all the time developing/improving tools for automation. But it seems they are giving more preference to Unix systems admin and programmer role. I applied twice and got mail for rejection for SE, SRE
