Had a Google SWE referral but didn't even pass the resume screen
Not mad, kinda disappointed. Weird because I'm going through Facebook E6 and Amazon AWS SDE3 interviews. Had a friend refer me so I thought I would at least get to talk to somebody. π€·π»ββοΈ

Not abnormal. It's the crapshoot of the game. It's happened to me and others that I've referred. The friend could reach out to the recruiter contact internally and request info about it, but it's likely that they'll get nowhere with it. Just have them refer you for other roles or to the same role again in the future.
Polish your resume. Most important is mention the things which are easy to understand by non-technical people. My resume was 2 page length. Now going for phone π interview.

Just curious, when you say "didn't pass" do you mean recruiter didnt contact you or they contacted you but they decided not to proceed afterwards?
Recruiter contacted me and said after reviewing my background and experience, they wouldn't proceed
Oh wow, I never heard or experienced that before. I was always scheduled a call with HM or tech screen. Was the initial screening difficult or different in any way?
