Interviewers keep asking me what was the hardest technical challenge with AWS and I don’t have anything memorable I can think of. I’ve never built anything or know of applications that require scale greater than AWS can handle. Netflix and Instagram run perfectly fine on AWS. I also don’t find any problems that can’t be solved by stackoverflow and aws docs. Any suggestions on how I answer this question?
I had one recently which got pretty interesting while white boarding: Using AWS based services, please diagram a ‘YouTube’ like service. Keep in mind front end authentication, backend and video ingestion should all use ‘serverless’ components. I got the offer - was fun. Interesting to get this question, as I applied for ProServ about 5 or so years ago and had a similar question, albeit pre-serverless movement.
Man I would love to see questions like these with answers to study from. Not just leetcode questions but architecture / design qs. I'd love to know what your answer was but I'm sure it's too much to type
There’s some great videos from YouTube on designing for scalability. I think Pinterest too. I can go find bookmarks - PM me if you want my to go look.
Instagram runs on AWS?? 🍆
Not anymore sorry, I meant it did run perfectly fine there lol. https://www.wired.com/2014/06/facebook-instagram/
