If google isn’t the hardest, what is? Finance can be included as well.

Would it be renaissance technologies?

The hardest to get into are ones you haven’t heard of. They don’t need to advertise open roles.

    • They give you 100 shares in the first year even if you are a fresh grad. 100 shares sounds little until you see their stock price !!!

Any relatively small company which is not interested in hiring anyone due to low open headcount

  • Nuro ( Nuro.ai ) Their hiring bar is exceptionally high.

Try getting into Voleon. A Tsinghua grad and MIT PhD was placed on pip and told he was not good enough. Your boss will be a tenured stats professor from Stanford / Berkeley. TC should be north of 800 for a fresh PhD.

I could technically create a startup and demand my applicants to be ex-astronauts with 1000 technical patents and ability to fluently speak every human language that was ever created.

I would think any remotely qualified person could get hired on any security team? Since those skills are so much in demand?

I think they're talking about crypto at the NSA. Basically mathematicians who feel some sense of duty working for the government
