Got a verbal offer from Amazon Lab126 in the bay. Waiting on numbers. How much should I expect with 4 yoe? I’ve seen 180-200k TC thrown around for entry L5 but not sure if SDE is significantly different from hardware. They also said that they will try to get me the best possible numbers the first time so as not to waste time negotiating back and forth. Is this just a typical tactic or is it actually true? How much can I negotiate without a competing offer? Is it even possible? Lastly, is it possible to negotiate start date? I’d like to push it back by a week or two from what they proposed. Any advice on how to do so?

I'm a hardware engineer at amazon. I was a senior level with 7 years experience before and came in at L6. TC on hire offer 1.5 years ago was $200k. With a 1% raise and stock appreciation this year will be somewhere around $240k. Amazon is a software company and does not value hardware engineering. Unfortunately you can't use SDE numbers as comps. Post or direct message me back when you get your formal offer. I'm super curious. Also, do you have MS or BS? I have MS and was able to maintain my "senior" title. I requested a delayed start date and it was no problem.
@sDue33, which org are you in Amazon and which field was your previous experience in?
Currently in fulfillment. Previously was in high tech.
I too have a verbal offer from lab126 for an FPGA Engineer position. I have about 7 years of FPGA experience. I have masters degree. From all the reading I've done, this is what I've out together as my expected total compensation. Base: 150-160ish Sign on: 70-80K split over 2 years RSU: worth around 300-350K vested over 4 years. Am I being too naive with my offer? Need help. I have a call with the recruiter in 3 days to discuss this. Any help truly appreciated
