Their Outland route has been paused for nine months now. CEC(work in Canada) has been paused now as well. Is the only option to immigrate to Canada to go for duplicate degree? #workvisa #Canada

    There are plenty of folks (in the US and elsewhere) who take a Canada PR but never really move to Canada. So granting PR to folks who are already in Canada on work permit or via education sounds like a reasonable thing. I’m curious how it changes after the Canadian elections. I don’t think express entry is going away. It continues to be popular and the backlogs keep rising.

    FSW draws were paused due to covid. Makes sense cause why would they want new outsiders coming in en-masse. They have been prioritizing CEC folks so far cause they are already in Canada.

    Wdym? You can still join one of the big techs’ Canadian offices.

    Also, FSW is paused only because of covid. CEC still draws because it’s basically for people who have already been here for studying etc.

    It’s definitely less un-immigrate-able than US imo 🤷🏻‍♀️ US is a lottery system. Canada at least has some ways of immigration through skills/merits that isn’t tied to a fucking RNG (yes I’m a little frustrated since I already went for H1B twice and didn’t get selected lol, meanwhile I already got Canadian PR and almost citizen in a few months)

      Most of us had to wait similar time or longer than that….even CEC. I got PR through CEC by attending uni in Canada, and I’ve been here since high school, yet CEC needed to see me to have 1+ year work experience (depending on IELTS scores).

      Waiting for 1 year via ICT is nothing compared to going for H1 numerous times (7, in my friend’s case) before you can get it.

      I already have multiple years of experience, and really want to change job due to toxic environment. One year cec is such a torture.
