I’m thinking of the best approach for applying to companies where I can’t get any referral since I don’t know anyone there. Is emailing/inmailing recruiters really much more effective than applying online? If you’ve had success with this approach could you also describe a bit about what you write in your emails.
Referrals are worldwide for most big ones.
Yes.. if you have a good profile
People like to work with good people. If you have a good profile/resume people are happy to refer. Just ask here.
I had luck InMailing recruiters ~1/5th response. I also InMailed random would-be-peers to ask how they liked the role or for coffee. If the convo went well I’d ask for a referral.
It works fairly well, and there really is no downside to trying
Usually HRs contact you on LinkedIn for opportunities even before you contact them, if your profile is worth it. Applies to FAANGs as well.
There are enough people on here you should be able to get a referral to almost any tech company you want. I guess if you're looking McKinsey or something it will be tough, but for tech let people know where you want a referral. I'd refer to Qualtrics
I’m looking for tech companies. Thanks I’ll send you a dm
Are these referals work across countries? Can US Google ppl refer me to Europe Google?
