Has anyone used unlocked teal estate service . Reviews seem to be stellar on yelp . They claim to give 2% rebate . #housing #sanfrancisco
What is their website?
I have. They’re OK for New Builds, but probably would not recommend them for anything else.
Can you elaborate on this? I’m considering using them
I am using them right now. I like them - but I don't need a realtor to hold my hand though the house buying process. I can do my own research. Rebate these days is 1.5%, because they have to set up appointments for you to look at houses (no more open houses).
Did you end up closing on a property with them? And have your thoughts of them changed since you posted this?
Would not recommend them. They run a very hands-off offer process focused primarily on having you bid super high, and don’t believe in any softer aspects of trying to get you the deal - ie following up with selling agent, establishing a relationship, getting info on competitive dynamics etc. If you are willing to be the highest bidder by a long shot, their approach may work for you. But that defeats the purpose of the rebate, right? In competitive Bay Area bidding situations, winning is often premised on having the right info, which a good buying agent can glean from the selling agent and get you into the deal - without necessarily having to outbid the second offer by $100k+ in the first go.
Thanks for sharing! Did you end up just working with a traditional real estate agent after your experience with Unlocked?
OP did you end up using Unlocked? I’m currently considering them and would your insight if you did

Do you really think Amazon is that bad
Beware companies whose main selling point is price, unless price is all you care about. For real estate, it's better to get references from people who had excellent experiences using them.
If you can do your own research and are well-educated about house buying, a traditional buyer's agent doesn't add much value.
