I've been following Netflix careers for 2 years straight and maybe I missed it but does Netflix ever hires new grads software engineers?
No. They are a “selfish” company. They only recruit engineers with more than 5 years experience.
What? Do you think they have time to form people? With their stack ranking you'd be tanking their performance.
There’s no bell curve or stack ranking here
When did you guys turn ship? https://www.fastcompany.com/3056662/she-created-netflixs-culture-and-it-ultimately-got-her-fired
We have interns, they must have had to apply somewhere.
Hey thanks for the insight! I really appreciate it
Some specialty job maybe. Like encoding , AI, security and you are a PhD candidate with some interesting papers.
Hey thanks for the insight! I really appreciate it
No. With our culture of freedom and responsibility and hands off, DYI, self-starters and no hand holding, a new grad would never make it. Specialty PhD student maybe... That’s why the only title we have is senior software engineer. Because we only hire senior level people who actually know what they’re doing. This culture goes way back to the dot com bust and the company had to lay off everyone but the most experienced and skilled to make the company survive and thrive in lean and mean mode. It stuck ever since.
Nopety nope
