Specifically curious with respect to building experience and performing well in interviews in the future. Prior to Microsoft I was able to do well in my interviews for behavioral / system design questions because I previously worked in a full stack role. However, I notice that most others in Microsoft are working on specific parts of the stack and I have not heard of any working in full stack roles. This is likely because most of Microsoft’s products are very mature. For those at Microsoft currently / been at Microsoft in the past, was this your experience and did it hold you back? I miss getting to look at the whole picture and as the years have passed I now realize I have been pigeon holed into one specific part of the stack and have no experience in the others. Is it like this at other FANGs?
Just a cog in the machine. You want that sweet sweet full stack, go to a startup.
Find a team that works on a critical product for internal customers. Not only full stack, you'll be also a QA, DevOps, support engineer, documentation writer and part-time PM
I was surprised to learn roles like team lead of sidebar and lead of preview panel. I fancied myself as team lead for cancel button.
Almost everyone I know at Microsoft works full-stack
