Have you quit coffee

I'm thinking of quitting. Bothers my stomach and makes me sometimes have trouble sleeping. My fear is that I won't be as productive after I get use to it. Has any software developers here quit and if so what was your experience like? I would think that, no you wouldn't have the caffeine buzz immediately after drinking coffee, but you also won't have the up and down energy level throughout the day.

I don't drink coffee at all, but I have friends who used to drink a lot of it and now don't, and they're doing fine without it.

I never started, and I feel good. No ups, no downs; if I'm tired, it just means I need a rest. I realize that doesn't help you with quitting, but I'm saying the end goal is worth it.

Yes, cold turkey 3 years back. I was drinking 4 or 5 cups a day, tried to reduce to 2, but never kept up. Cold Turkey worked best. I still entertain myself with a nice coffee date with my wife once a month or so. Initial fewdsys are the hardest ( bad headaches) but that goes away.

Cold turkey is the only thing that works for this addiction. It's really hard to resist first few weeks. After that, you don't miss it at all.

I quit for 3 months once. It was awful. Drink about 6 cups a day.

Quit caffeine, started Adderall. World of a difference! That said I'd only drink a red bull or two a week.

What were some of the changes you experienced?

Matcha is the way to go. It gives you a less jittery, more long lasting energy boost without the crash at the end. No stomach issues either. I made the switch earlier this year and noticed better focus and concentration and my anxiety is more manageable. No withdrawals either if I forget to have my tea. Highly suggest trying matcha but make sure you get the quality stuff. I prefer ceremonial grade.

I’ve quit at will several times. It doesn’t have that kind of effect on me I guess. Sometimes I go a whole work week with no coffee, other weeks I can drink a cup a day. It’s just “something to drink” to me.

the toilets at Amazon would be happy if we all quit coffee

I don't have a problem with drinking coffee however my caffiene tolerance has gotten so high that it became a nuisance to constantly drink it. I have been taking these caffiene pills and I highly recommend them. They are extended release pills so you can take one and feel energized for four to five hours. If you take two or three at once you will be bouncing off the walls and it's cheaper then coffee. https://www.amazon.com/200mg-Caffeine-Pills-Coconuts-L-Theanine/dp/B07FP4KS3R
