Hey Blind, So I finished a phone interview last Wednesday with the hiring manager at a FAANG company. The manager said that he really enjoyed our talk and that the recruiter should reach out within a week to schedule on-site interviews. The manager mentioned that it’s budget season right now so it’ll be difficult to schedule anything on-site. Given that I haven’t heard back from the recruiter since last Wednesday, should I check back? I sent a thank you email to the manager via the recruiter and didn’t get a response back. Edit: For a finance role at Facebook. Advice? Thanks!
Not sure if you are aware. But there are a whole bunch of recruiters, whole bunch of open positions and a whole bunch of people interviewing for them. So not sure what you're trying to hide here. Don't worry. We ain't gonna be taking your spot.
? Wait what? I’m just more asking should I follow up now that it’s been a week, or just wait a bit? Sorry if I wasn’t clear lol
Sorry if I wasn't clear.... It seems you are seeking more direct feedback since you are asking here. If you want general advice on how long to wait before emailing back a recuiter, just a simple Google search could have solved that. But without name of company, location and position no one can help you more than a generic Google search can.
Are you seriously interested in working there or annoyed you haven’t heard back? Follow up proactively either way. A week is a bad sign bad candidate experience and could be a bad sign for the hiring process or lack of urgency from recruiting. A simple message from a recruiter saying hey we want to move forward with you and I need to figure out timing what’s your availability? Also do you have a timeline to decide, other offers? They should not leave you hanging for a week if they care about you, your time, and their company. Get an answer either way. What company is this?
Sorry it’s FANGG
Thanks for the comment! I’ve edited my OP to state that it’s Facebook for a finance role. I’m interested in the role, and I’ve sent a follow up email to the recruiter. I don’t have other offers on hand at the moment, but am interviewing at other companies that have already scheduled on-site interviews. So essentially I’m a bit annoyed for the lack of follow-up - at least a prompt one.
Yeah should definitely email for a follow up. Although telling you that you'll wait a week might not be that great but I don't know the process for finance roles. I heard back in less than 1 day after the phone interview. Sometimes it's just hard to say, someone messed up and forgot some paperwork, or the interviewer went on vacation and never handed in the feedback etc. Either way, I always assume I failed and just keep leetcoding on.
Did you ever hear back?
I did! I’ll be moving on to the final round next week! Thanks for checking up!
