My wife and I work in the city and we are looking for a place in the above mentioned areas. Bayfair bart which has 3 lines running through is a main reason. Looking for advice from people who lived/living in those neighborhoods. Thanks.
All 3 r so sketchy! Whenever I pass through, I feel like they just suffered through a zombie attack and no one's brothered to fix the windows and buildings since then.
I lived in Hayward. People always said it is sketchy but I didn’t feel that. Castro Valley is nicer. I would not go to Hayward BART station preferring CV instead.
I live on the edge of San leandro and Castro valley. Castro seems nicer and safer in general. I used to BART at bay fair for 3 months. Vibe didn’t feel too safe, so I just decided suck it up and drive everyday
You working in the city ? How long does it take for driving ? That’s our other option if we don’t like Bart.
No I work in the South Bay. Commute there usually takes no more than an hour one way if I go before the peak times. Not too familiar with SF, although I know twitter/Uber SF to Berkeley takes about 30 mins, so just add the extra commute to that calculation
Dublin, Pleasanton is good . However one of my friends who worked in the city moved into an apartment in City. Best decision ever for them. You think the rent is high but peak times commute , BART fair etc all make up for the additional rent you pay. Burlingame is decent place to live as well.
Well, we currently live in Burlingame 😀
The neighborhoods on the hills are nicer If you don’t mind driving to the station. Hayward is a better option if one of you gets a job in South Bay.
Found a place in mesa verde. May be I think that’s on the hills.
CV is great and safe.
Thanks. Any particular neighborhoods in CV?
Agree. It also has rustic feeling and people in general are not pretentious
Hayward’s a big city with many beautiful pockets, such as Mission Garin. If your kids don’t go to elementary school in 5 years, I’ll definitely explore Hayward. (Rent/sell and upgrade afterwards) People won’t believe or have forgotten how Mtn View (yes), Redwood City, San Bruno, Warm Springs were 20-5 years back.

Bayfair is a bit sketchy. If you are willing to do a bit longer commute, Dublin is nice area.
Thanks. It’s getting further far.
