Just completed a DoorDash interview yesterday for a safety role. This was the case study interview questions part of the process. I feel like I did well even though zero of the case study questions were related with safety or process improvement. What is the purpose of asking case study questions that have zero to do with your candidates background or the job that was posted?

One interviewer was asking me marketing case study questions. I understand critical thinking skills, but this seems weird to ask a safety person to analyze critical thinking skills since most wouldn’t have the necessary knowledge to answer these types of questions because of their training or background.

Cool. I was wondering why me answering a question about marketing/knowing if this is a market that should be expanded into would be useful to determine if I knew how to keep operations safe. Like a person with a safety background wouldn’t really understand what city you should launch in. It would have made more sense to ask “we are launching in such and such city, how would you go about setting up the processes and security of the site based on the location?”

      Oh well.

  • I've had a similar experiences on a different product area. I think this shows a leadership flaw
