Any pros/ cons for health care options in the SF Bay Area? I currently have Kaiser HMO as it was the only option while working at Kaiser and it’s been lackluster at times. Debating whether or not to switch over to PPO as I feel that the Kaiser experience is very “assembly line” like at times and I value quality over convenience when it comes to healthcare.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I used to have Kaiser too and it was below average. I’ve switched to a PPO since the last few years and my experience has been excellent. I have the liberty to pick doctors. If I don’t like one, I can always try another.

Cost-wise, copays are 20$ for primary care and 30$ for specialists. Specialists can usually be seen only via referrals from a PCP but I’ve found that the specialists in the PPO network are infinitely better than at Kaiser.

I try to stick to providers at Stanford Healthcare or PAMF/Sutter Health. Both are excellent. PAMF is slightly better.
