wondering if anyone knows how health insurance works when leaving a company. From my understanding, you have coverage till the end of the month and the cost is deducted from your last paycheck but I could be completely wrong. I would ask HR, but i haven’t turned in my 2 weeks notice yet so don’t wanna raise any red flags
Insurance usually continues until the end of the month. If you don’t want to start right the new job the same month, then you can retroactively elect COBRA to cover the gap. Off the top of my head, I don’t recall how many months you have to make the election. When I changed jobs, I took over a month off. I didn’t have any claims (refilled all the Rx before the old insurance expired), so I didn’t need COBRA to cover the gap.
That sounds right. Try to set last date to start of a new month. Don't forget deductible will reset.
Sounds good, thanks for the heads up about the deductible!
