Technically it's not quitting it's still being let go, but they won't give severance. Have to file for unemployment.

125 of us, including Quality Engineering, were given two-week notice that our employment would end, and that TechM would make offers to everyone affected so they could work as contractors to Rackspace. They call it re-badging. As Rackspace is providing a new job through their partner, they chose not to offer severance. They apparently do not have to give any unemployment benefits. This is their new definition of testing employees like family. This may be the pilot before they do it to other groups.
We'll see that is the thing, these 125 aren't rackers and aren't our family (at least after this happens), so it doesn't matter what they say or what happens to them. Also, if this group has given the most severe racker pulse scores, making this change will improve employee satisfaction which as we know, is one of the 3 metrics they care about.

To be fair, for those on a Visa or have families, it would be preferred to have a job lined up in my current city as opposed to severance and an unknown future.
