IBMers on Blind, Just wanted to share this with you. Even though I had a negative experience with IBM, I still look back to all these years I worked there and have a sense of gratitude. First, for the recruiter that reached out to me on LinkedIn, then to my first team and all other teams I worked with or on. Ginni is always an inspirational leader, every time I got her emails with speeches and videos, it was always exciting to hear what she had to say. It sucks that after so many years I came to hate my work environment because of shitty bosses and poor management, and left IBM altogether after trying to get to another team just to end up in the same negative situation. So if you're in a good team, think you're paid well and enjoy your work as an IBMer, good for you. Roll up your sleeves and keep doing what you are doing! But if you're like me that joined IBM thinking it was going to be a dream and it turned out to be a nightmare, even though you put your best foot forward, did everything you could and worked your ass off to perform beyond your expectations just to get no raise, no praise, no nothing, here's my message to you: leave. Don't settle, don't think it will get better, that another team may be better, because an internal candidate is no currency for them. If you're not happy where you are with the company, leave the company. Plain and simple. It took me about 5 years to realize that and I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to leave sooner and to stop believing that my hard work would be noticed, it never happened. I got burned out, I stopped caring and my performance, mental health and overall life suffered. I'm now about to start a new job, at a management level, making waaaay more money I could ever get at IBM and for the first time in years I can say I'm looking forward to starting a new week of work. Get on LinkedIn, get out there, network, go back to school, learn that new thing you always wanted to but never had time for, and respond to recruiters if you like their company/job, or say "no thank you" if you don't like the company/job and don't stop until you are happy! I missed being happy and didn't realize until I left. If you're not happy in there, move every muscle and every fiber in your body to leave as soon as possible because all those years lost won't come back and you'll wish you could have done it sooner. PS: This goes not only for IBMers but anyone who can relate, in any company. Cheers! β₯οΈπ°π΅π TC 30% more than IBM's. TLDR: Be fu**ing happy and don't let anyone or anything get in your way.
God bless, man. It might not have been the perfect job, but starting off at IBM opened doors that I wouldn't have had access to without the work experience and name on my resume. Leaving in a few weeks for over double my current TC, definitely glad I came and definitely glad I'm leaving.
You too man! Congrats. It's a liberating feeling to leave an employer that doesn't care about you isn't it? I'm bouncing back from depression, feeling better every day and can't wait to see the new paycheck! Hehe π
IBM takes care of me well. Just interviewed with FB, MS, and Apple though π

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Where are you at now? What was your TC at ibm before you left?
Smaller company, has about 10 offices in the US. TC at IBM was π₯. Now, it's π₯ +π°π΅π
