I'm an L63 at MS, 6 yoe with about 190k in TC (excluding benefits), might get a promo in another 6 months. I have an offer from Oracle OCI Seattle, TC is 280k for IC3/Senior Dev. At MS, I like my manager and team but work hasn't been interesting or challenging lately. Seems like an easy choice when the offer is 100k more but I'm worried about the following: - future of OCI, seems like a risk. - there were layoffs recently in Oracle, probably not in OCI, but still.. - benefits will be poor compared to MS - still have $100k unvested stocks in MS. Please help me! PS: I'm not on Visa, so that's one less risk to worry about.
Don’t. Look at the layoffs website to know what’s going on there.
Which website is that? Can u pls give?
Yes please share, never heard of that before.
How long have you been in L63 at Microsoft?
Don’t if you are on visa or single income family
I have a verbal offer from OCI that cannot move to written due to recently laid off. Just FYI
Layoffs were in oci
OCI, still exists?
Don’t think much. Stay where you are. I don’t think you are going to get a lot of interesting work even at OCI. Yes layoffs happened at OCI and probably will happen in the future.
You should factor in unvested stock, personal cost of the difference in benefits, parking cost if you drive (can be 4K a year so not trivial). Is the difference worth leaving a manager and team you like and taking on the risk if you are working on a visa?
Do you have other offers? Why move to a dying company?
You can't replace happiness with more money. If you like your team and manager and compensation, consider staying. If you want to chase money and risk happiness, leave.
