I have two offers after I graduate: 1. Northrop Grumman Software Engineer TC: 80k (remote) 2. BOFA Global Technology Analyst Program TC: 98k (the position details of this are very vague but they said I’ll be working with something related to data science and machine learning) #Bofa #tech #northropgrumman
This is blind, we always choose high tc option. Does bofa remote as well?
Sadly no
Which location? If you need to relocate, calculate the cost of living difference?
BOA is an analyst program. Think about that too. Folks in the programs are treated just like interns.
True but it seems like we will be treated normal after the program
Oh tap program. I was in that for couple of years. Yeah so tech at boa is a cost center and you will always hear about budget problems and hiring freezes. HR does not really care about tech people at all and tech managers don't have much control or power over raises. Culture is heavily influenced by your manager and managers manager. I saw 2 types of people at bofa from the tap program. Those that stay for years and years and those that bail in a couple of years. You will never get the compensation that you get at a tech company but depending on your team culture you could learn decent amount. Overall pretty low motivation environment once you realize that there is not much incentive incentive to make more money. It should be a pretty easy job for most people though. You can put your life first and work second. Job security is also pretty great. Not a bad place at all. I would say to work for 2 years and then start applying. 2 years is usually good enough to become avp if good performer. Not much flexibility in moving internally even though bofa advertises it. Many people are old school people who go with yoe as competence which is not true for bofa.
Oh I see. The compensation is decent but yeah no where near tech. Also (I asked this before in this thread but just wanna be sure) do you know if most people get promoted after the 1 year program ends?
Literally nothing changes after that 1 year. It is FTE employment from what I recall. That one year is just a way to help you adjust to work environment since you are out of college. You will attend events every now and then but that's it. After 1 year, your title stays the same. Promotion is dependent on performance. 2 years is standard. Don't worry about employment termination after 1 year. IDK anyone who did not keep their job after 1 year. If anything some people just quit lol

I wouldn’t go the Northrop route. Defense contractors are not the place to be
Palantir and Anduril are exceptions
