Hey y'all! I'm looking to get a new credit card, since I've been traveling for quite some time. Which is a best deal between these, Capital One Venture X card or Chase Sapphire Preferred? And if there's an even better deal than these cards, please comment below. #personalfinance #creditcard #investments
Sapphire Reserve or Amex Platinum
I don't think OP wants to pay the premium fee for these cards
You get the majority of the fee back immediately in travel credits for gas/uber/anything.
Why not a credit union-sponsored MC or Visa? I have several with rates as low as 6.8% and customer service is exceptional.
Who cares about low rates if you pay it off every month?
I pay off my cards every month too, but the OP did not state whether that was his intent. The customer service is so much better as well, you are not a faceless account number. It is comparable to establishing a relationship with your physician or using an impersonal telehealth service.
Citi Double 2% unlimited cash back Amex Blue Cash and platinum: Double warranty and theft protection
Chase Sapphire "reserve " is best.
Apple card is sick and the card quality is legit
What do you mean by card quality?
Lol what's quality got to do with it
Venture X is brand new, but looks very lucrative. I’d get one if they had a flagship lounge in my home airport. Priority pass can be good too, but those lounges aren’t always the most impressive. I use the Amex Platinum. It’s way more expensive, but they do have the best flagship lounges, including in my home airport.
Do you fly several times a year or more? If so I'd get a premium card so you get Priority Pass access. Not sitting in the terminal or paying for overpriced airport food is nice. Check if Priority Pass has good lounges/restaurants in your local airport and any you frequent, for best results. Chase Reserve used to be the best, but now it only is if you use Peloton and often DoorDash. Right now I'd go for Venture X. DM me if you want a referral. If you don't really travel, then Chase Preferred. Go to a physical Chase bank branch and you can still get the 100k points sign up bonus. Today is the last day that offer is available. Amex Platinum has some good perks, but they're shifting more to "lifestyle" perks which tend to be shit unless they match your lifestyle. If you travel internationally, and even in some cases domestically, get used to the phrase "We don't take American Express".
Yeah, I travel a ton, been flying about every two weeks now. But, bc it's been mostly LATAM (and next year, I'll be hopping around Africa), the whole lounges/restaurants as well as things like Lyft, I really don't care for. I just need good point conversions with airlines and sometimes hotels. I wish I could physically go to the chase bank, but I'm currently in Guatemala, so there's no possible way to do that.
Priority Pass actually gives access to a lot more lounges internationally than they do domestically. For example, you'd get access to this lounge in Guatemala: https://www.prioritypass.com/en/lounges/guatemala/guatemala-la-aurora-intl/gua2-los-anejos-lounge
Start taking advantage of multiple credit-cards. It's literally free money and I've received >10k of value from free flights and hotels in the past several years since I've been "churning." There are lots of websites like pointsguy, doctor of credit, reddit.com/r/churning that can catch you up quickly. But my simple advice is start with Chase Sapphire Preferred then work your way through the Chase credit cards. You can have at most 5 cards within 2 years from Chase, then move on to other cards or banks like Amex, Citi etc. Feel free to DM me for more info.
Could you share what a newbie needs to do here? Where to start? If I have the csp, now what?
Start a spreadsheet or some system to keep track of your cards. Get a new card every ~3 months or once you get the bonus. Cancel old cards or downgrade to a no annual fee card when the annual fee hits. Next, I would recommend the Chase Explorer or Chase IHG. I generally just look at https://www.doctorofcredit.com/best-current-credit-card-sign-bonuses/ rankings for the best cards at the moment. Once you max out the 5 Chase cards, Amex Platinum is a no brainer.
Capital one venture x is the best travel card. Dm if you want a referral
