Parachuted Silicon Valley MD in Tech
Yeah, or celebrity researcher (think Bjarne Stroustrup). It's probably a great job too. I bet that he gets to work in C++ committee stuff, and Morgan Stanley gets the good PR.
Sr positions in legal and compliance fit this
I see. Thanks for sharing. What's an example of a VP base salary and bonus?
I can’t say specifically. I’m a one to two rungs below the Sr positions I’m talking about and my TC is 210 (175+35)
It’s a great deal in terms of comp and work life balance. It’s ideal for people with young kids lots of them lateral into finance from more demanding law firms and they stay as long as possible. People who are more ambitious tend to hop around to increase comp and get more responsibility in my experience
Software engineer
Can you give an example of VP salary and base
Depends on where you are and what team. Probably about $200-$350 base, depending on team and location. Bonus depends on how the firm does. It’s less tied to a book of business
OP you can probably get that overseas, like in the Middle East
300k base? CxO suite. 300k TC? Any quant role that produces revenue. Wanna make 300k in banking? Generate 3M revenue for your bank.
Agree you can achieve my criteria with a quant role. In Goldman these are called strats. And if you want 50 hours a week, be a strat in the Asset Management Division or PWM
Wait banking comp is that high. I can generate 100M of revenue and easily 10M+ of profit per year. And I get bananas as a thank you
Private equity
Can you name some PE firms that let you work 50 hours or less
Not on the investing side, but you can do it on the ops side.
Us
Which team / what do you do
Yup
Most Software engineer roles in Bay Area ( at that exp levels ) pays you well over 300k
Agree. This thread is for jobs at Banks though. I do agree that SWE can easily meet this criteria if you work on a normal not cutthroat team
Lol good luck finding a job like that in banking. All jobs that pay that much in banking require 60hrs per week
They're not talked about often, but they exist.
