WeWork: L6: $260k base $500k/3yr evenly vesting $50k sign on - not going to be doing complex scaling problems. $426k TC (assuming their stock holds... probably volatile stock lowering the TC a bit) Google: L5: $190k base $550k/4yr - Learning more complex problems. $330k TC Uber: L5A: $192k base $625k/4yr - System scale is impressive. $350k TC Which should I go for? WeWork is obviously very high, coming in at Staff, which is what I’m at now- although once I interview elsewhere in say 1 or 2 years, I doubt it’ll be impressive having them on my resume, and no experience there directly working with large scale. Their TC is also assuming the stock holds to their $47b valuation. However even their base though is very very good and thinking of sticking it out just for that? Or should I go with Google/Uber due to the resume and learning more, at a pay cut. 10YOE Added poll, but comment on why you think it should be one vs the other please.
You should go for the most enjoyable team culture. The people you see every day is what can make your life hell. Find out more about the people.
G.
If you can make Google match your wework offer go with Google.
Doubt Google wants to do that
Google would surely match Uber
Did you get N?
Did you tell the other recruiters that you have a significantly higher offer? Google will go higher than 330 for an L5
WeWork is only paying more in paper money. There's a very good chance that the late employees won't get anything out of the stocks. They'll have real hard time proving their 47 billion valuation if they ever go IPO. Even Uber is facing hard time in the IPO market. I would go with Google (or Uber depending on the team). Probably negotiate with Google to match with Uber.
WeWork announced their IPO shortly ago. The big question would be how far and fast is the stock going to crash.. but even if it drops 50% from that valuations that’s still $250k/3yr, first year would be $83k stock and $260k. But yea I agree
I’ll either pick Uber or Google, having them on resume is way better, in terms of future as well as career growth and challenges you’ll face and learn there. Google and Uber both provides other benefits which will certainly compensate you a base cut, also remember their bonus and stock refreshers are pretty high too. I know many of my friends left WeWork within few months and either moved to Facebook, Google, Uber or Lyft. Think about long term and make decision where you don’t have to regret. Good Luck 👍
Add poll. I vote Uber or G, whichever team/project excites you more.
