Homeless people with lack of certain hygiene standards constitute a major population in SF, plus a lot of human waste and dirtiness at public places. SF residents, are you worried abour contagious diseases? Even if you don’t touch a homeless person, what about breathing air in soma or touching a door somewhere?
A combination of warm all year around.. poor health care and mental health support. ENORMOUS wealth gap have created this issue and many many more in this area. And there's seems to be no end in sight. Btw. What's your TC
Stop discriminating the poor and vulnerables! You are more disgusting than human waste!
I’m not worried about that no.
You have to change out of your street clothes the moment you walk into the house. Don't be sitting on the sofa or god forbid lay on the bed in them
Are you people licking the street? Like, just wash your hands and take off your shoes in the house, and then there's no real risk of getting an infectious disease from this sort of thing. Airborne diseases don't last very long away from a host
We are worried about breathing the same air as homeless people ... wow! Ever been to a hospital or visit those higher density Asian countries .. eg China or India? It may be inconvenient to deal with the homeless, but, Homeless phobia is beyond disgusting when one realizes that it’s being taught to the kids in the same homes. Who is to say that any of us cannot end up homeless in next market crash? Or after some accident / mental health issue?
If there is a shit on a street, it has viruses and bacteria around it. Bad sanitization causes diseases. With rain, it is mixed with your drinking water. It is as simple as that. US has a much higher gdp per capita and india comparison is bullshit. If we have a system that makes you sleep and shit on the streets with market crashes, then it is the problem!
Yes, we are worried about the smell. Hygiene, air quality, and cleanliness are important and their long-term impact is hard to measure. Science only recently discovered that herpes is linked to Alzheimers... but I think all germaphobes already suspected that this disease was nefarious for more than aesthetic reasons
I think everyone should pick up their own shit afterwards. If dog owners can do it then why homeless people can’t?
Yea I worry about this too. There is so much long-term microbiome impact that science is beginning to understand. It is scary to be exposing ourselves to the microbiomes of the least healthy individuals in society
That "science is beginning to understand" or that "pseudoscience is beginning to sell?"
I’m no crackpot Dr. Oz fan. Look up h pylori, toxoplasmosis, and the recent findings about school air pollution. All that stuff is real and it was all discovered relatively recently. I just think that if something smells bad (homeless people) - it may be harmful
It’s depressing and annoying- streets filled with poop and I see people defecating on the streets - it is scary - I come to sf once a week and I really don’t want to. There are homeless all around , begging and just loitering around, not sure why they live in SF .

Chances of meta clearing E5 with screwing up one coding one round and acing all other
I am more worried about the direct consequences. Someone I know was running to work one morning, stepped into human feces, slide to the wall and his face was hit so bad he had to stitch it back together at the ER and he was missing out several days (didn’t even show up at the video standup meetings).
Horrible!
